Effects of narrow gap wave resonance on a dual-floater WEC-breakwater hybrid system

The effects of gap wave resonance on the performance a dual-floater hybrid system consisting an oscillating-buoy type energy converter (WEC) and floating breakwater are important for design such system. This paper investigates by employing two-dimensional numerical flume developed using Star-CCM + software. maximum elevation in WEC-breakwater were studied. influence WEC motion geometrical parameters analyzed. is essentially controlled vertical velocity free surface gap. was found to significantly improve extraction allowed conversion efficiency exceed well-known limit 0.50 symmetric body single degree-of-freedom motion. frequencies decreased with increase width draft. Due WEC, horizontal forces reduced up 0.79 0.59, respectively.
